Industrial Automation & Software Engineering

Complete automation projects

From first idea. To production.

Electrical, PLC/HMI, industrial software and execution. One project team, from scope to handover.

Who does which part of the work?

GCG can take responsibility for the complete automation project. We define which engineering work we perform and how mechanics, panel building and cabling are coordinated with the parties involved.

  1. Electrical & panel building

  2. PLC, HMI & motion

  3. Software & data connections

  4. Commissioning & handover

The project approach

The elements of the project.

The scope determines which elements are needed. Below are the disciplines GCG can deliver or coordinate.

  1. Scope & agreement

Clarify objectives, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.

  2. Design & software

Align electrical design, controls and data connections.

  3. Build & preparation

Coordinate panel building and field work. Test functions before installation.

  4. Installation & testing

Connect on site, commission and complete acceptance together.

  5. Production & handover

Support start-up and hand over documentation and knowledge.

  6. Aftercare

Provide support and optimization within the agreed scope.

In detail: all 14 elements of our project approach
  1. Concept & scope

Define the process, functions, interfaces and acceptance criteria. Agree which automation package GCG owns and what remains with the customer or other parties.

  2. Project management

One project lead manages planning, technical consistency, risks and change control, with clear responsibilities for each party.

  3. Electrical & EPLAN engineering

From power and I/O architecture to EPLAN schematics, component selection and drawings for panel building and field installation.

  4. PLC, HMI & SCADA

Develop control software, machine functions, operator interfaces and visualization as one coherent system.

  5. Industrial software & IT/OT

Connect machines and networks to servers, dashboards and applications. Data models, OPC UA/MQTT and access management form part of the agreed architecture.

  6. Control cabinets & field cabling

Technically coordinate panel building, cable schedules and field work.

  7. FAT

Test functions, interfaces and fault scenarios against the agreed test plan before installation. Record and resolve findings.

  8. Installation & cabling

Organize and carry out on-site installation, cabling and connection within the project scope, aligned with shutdowns and other disciplines.

  9. Commissioning & SAT

Check I/O, functions and integrations on site. Test the installation with the customer and close acceptance points with a traceable record.

  10. Start-up & production ramp-up

Support the transition to production, tune settings and assist operators and maintenance through the agreed start-up period.

  11. Documentation & manuals

Hand over as-built drawings, software backups, operating information and maintenance documentation against the agreed deliverables list.

  12. Training & knowledge transfer

Tailor operator and maintenance training, technical courses and focused knowledge transfer to the installation and your team's needs.

  13. Aftercare & support

    Aftercare, troubleshooting and further optimization.

  14. Mechanical coordination

Where required, GCG coordinates mechanical work and contractors as part of the automation project. This does not mean GCG performs all mechanical engineering, manufacturing or assembly itself.

GCG projects · Connect! at Everox

Practical experience connecting machines and data.

In these projects, GCG provided data connections and monitoring with CONNECT!.

  • Connect! on a Thermal Mechanical Separator: Everox

First Connect! deployment, on an installation processing concrete waste.

  • Connect! V2 on a carbonator: Everox

Monitoring for a CO₂-reduced cement replacement production line.

  • Connect! remote monitoring 2,000 km away: Everox, Ukraine

Real-time sensor data from a machine 2,000 km away, managed remotely through Connect!.
